Boston Fashion to be more exact.
Cameras flashing, models running around in obscure clothes and hair piled high on top of their heads, and people coming dressed to the nines. A fashion show? Yes and to be more exact, a fashion show at Boston Fashion Week, (BFW) hosted by America’s Next Top Model Ashley Molina.
Now being from Boston my whole life, I actually never knew that Boston had a fashion week. I mean I knew NY did and LA, but Boston, surely not. For some reason it just never crossed my mind, until the night I found out I would get to go to a BFW show!
To me, Fashion Week was a thing that was nice to look at in a magazine, or on E News. I never thought that someone like me would get to go to any type of fashion week at all. Lets face it; I was no Gigi Hadid, or Kendal Jenner, or Carrie Bradshaw and friends.
How may you ask did I get the chance to be just as fabulous as them for a night?
Well I have a friend who has a designer friend (how cool is that) and he was putting on a show for BWF. She asked if I wanted to go, and obviously I said yes without thinking twice.
*Inside my head* (all the while doing the best dance moves that I could)
I am going to Fashion Week, I am going to Fashion Week and I get to be a celebrity for the night. Yay!
My 25-year-old self was clearly ecstatic.
Than my mind started to shift gears. Instead of being in a happy party mode, it switched to panic and fear. I could hear the maniacal laughter that was my mind as it was making me doubt myself and doubt my decision. Yes it was fashion week, something I had longed to go to for so long; but it was my first ever fashion week and there were so many unanswered questions.
Was I even cool enough or fashionable enough to attend? (at this I swear I could hear my mind snicker at me) What would I wear? What if my style was not acceptable for fashion week? (another snicker) How should I do my hair….the questions kept coming and coming until finally I stopped. I was freaking myself out for no reason!
I realized that of course I was cool enough and fashionable enough to attend and that I would find a simple, easy, and affordable outfit right in my closet. (*Holding my fake Oscar; I would like to thank all the thrift stores I have been to, to make this outfit happen*) Fashion week was all about the three F’s: Fashion, Fashion and Fun! What had I been worried about?
The Fashion show was everything I had hoped for. There was Fashion from the newest collections of Project Runway Season 15 contestant Nathalia JMag, fashion from celebrity designer Josefa Da Silva Chicly Klosets, Bryan Alexis (her friend and not to be biased but definitely my favorite collection) and there was a Human Art Display featuring Sparklle Thames.
Cameras flashing, models running around in obscure clothes and hair piled high on top of their heads, and people coming dressed to the nines. Drinks were served, music was playing and overall it was a top-notch night and definitely a great fashion show!
BFW may not be as big as some of the other Fashion Weeks, but it sure does make for a Grand Secondhand of a good time!
